Details on
Cesium.
Physical properties
cesius - soft metal, due to the low melting point (Tpl = 28.6 ° C) at room temperature is in a semi-liquid state. Metallic cesium is a substance of golden-white color, in appearance similar to gold, but lighter. The melt represents a movable liquid, while its color becomes more silvery. Liquid cesium reflects light well. Cesium vapors are painted greenish-blue.
Crystallizes cesium in a volume-centered cubic lattice (type α-iron), spatial group I m3m, a = 0.6141 nm, Z = 2. At high pressure, it can transition to other polymorphic modifications[7]. Cesium is a paramagnetic.
Cesium dissolves in liquid ammonia (dark blue solutions) and molten CsOH.

Application
Cesium found application only in the early XX century, when its minerals were discovered and the technology of obtaining in its pure form was developed. Currently, cesium and its compounds are used in electronics, radio, electrical, radio, radio engineering, chemical industry, optics, medicine, nuclear energy. Mainly used stable natural cesium-133, and limited - its radioactive isotope cesium-137, released from the sum of fragments of uranium fission, plutonium, thorium in the reactors of nuclear power plants.
Used in the electronic and lighting industry.
