Details on
Brass.
This is a double or multicomponent copper-based alloy, where the main alloying element is zinc sometimes with the addition of tin, nickel, lead, manganese, iron and other elements.Compared to copper, they have higher strength and corrosion resistance. Simple brass is denoted by the letter L and a figure showing the copper content in percent. In special brass, after the letter L, write a capital letter of additional alloying elements and through a dash after the copper content indicate the content of alloying elements in percent.
Brass is divided into foundry and deformable. Brass, with the exception of lead-containing, can be easily treated with pressure in a cold and hot state.
All brass is well soldered with hard and soft solders. Brass compared to bronze has less high strength, corrosion resistance and antifriction properties. They are very resistant in air, in sea water, solutions of most organic acids, carbon dioxide solutions.
