Nickel-Lanthanum.
The technology of obtaining nickel ligatures (nickel-20-25% yttrium, nickel-20-25% lantan) for the production of super-heat-resistant alloys for 5th generation aircraft has been developed. The technology involves fusing components in an arc furnace with a non-consumable tungsten electrode and a copper water-cooled crystallizer in an argon atmosphere. The technology allows to obtain alloys of high homogeneity and with minimal liquation heterogeneity, as well as with minimal pollution during the smelting process. Ligate in heat-resistant alloy is introduced at the rate of 0.2% rare earth metal (REM). When using the ligature, the digestibility of REM increased by 40%. The introduction of rare earth metals provides a low content of impurities (oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur) in the heat-resistant alloy due to the complete and stable assimilation of rare earth metals, which are effective deoxidants and desulphurizers.
The results of tests of single crystals of alloys for long-term strength, melted with the introduction of ligatures, showed high values of time to destruction for a new generation of superheat-resistant alloys.
As a ligating additive to nickel to increase the operating temperature in the combustion chamber of aircraft engines recently used ruthenium. The use of ligature instead of pure ruthenium can increase the digestibility of the latter by 10%.
Technical conditions have been developed and approved for all ligatures. To meet the existing and future needs, a special section equipped with modern equipment was designed and put into operation at the Institute.
